ClearContext v4.5 and Xobni

Postby ClearContext Support » Fri Sep 19, 2008 12:34 am

** The latest production releases of Xobni (v1.6) and ClearContext (v4.5.3) resolve this issue. Please upgrade if you have not already done so. **

There is a reported display problem when running ClearContext with the Xobni sidebar open. Close the sidebar via the Xobni menu to workaround this issue. We’ve worked with the Xobni team to identify the issue, and they are now working on a fix. The fix is currently anticipated to be completed in the Xobni 1.5 release.

Does this affect previous versions of ClearContext?

Is there anyway to disable / not show the FolderContext as I beleive this is causing the redraw issues with Xobni and as I do not really need to know the Files / Contacts / Notifications in a FOLDER, I would like to disable the same.

Many Thanks

Nev:

We don't currently have the ability to disable FC, but we'll be adding more flexibility to the UI elements in upcoming releases. In the meantime, we are continuing to work with the Xobni team to fix the conflict and hope to post an update in this thread soon.

Quick update. The Xobni and CC engineering teams have been working together to figure out this problem and come up with a fix. Both ClearContext and Xobni push the limits of extending Outlook capabilities. Things can get a little tricky when doing UI customizations within Outlook, and it appears the fix is a little more involved than originally anticipated. We're committed to getting this conflict fixed, and we're communicating on this issue with the Xobni team, who have been very responsive and also want to get this addressed. Both companies are focused on giving users the best possible experience with our products, so we will continue to work hard to get this issue resolved. Thanks for your patience and feedback as we work to get this fixed.

Thx for the updates on this issue. I'm looking forward to using both applications without any major hangups.

If you want anyone to test outside of being a developer, then I would be more that happy to put myself forward.

Best Regards,

Quick update to say that working in conjunction w/ the Xobni team we've both identified what appears to be the source of the UI conflict, which has required code changes in both of our products. Both teams are optimistic that this will solve the problem, and we hope to have the fix rolled out very soon. Stay tuned here for updates as soon as we figure out exactly which ClearContext and Xobni builds will have the new code implemented.

Xobni appears to have released their fix on the issue in the newest private build. They said in their forum that a fix from the CC side is needed. May I know if a new build would be available to address the issue?

FYI, the new Xobni build may include their patched code, but the error still occurs. Just tested the new Xobni build this morning. I have again uninstalled Xobni as I cannot operate without ClearContext and Xobni, while great in its own right, is still optional in my workflow. Please let us know when your new code will be available - thanks!

Jeff,

We're testing right now against Xobni's latest build and it looks like we have a couple of final glitches to resolve with them, but it's looking like we should be able to have compatible builds out very soon here. We'll keep you update. Thanks to everyone for your support and patience - both ClearContext and Xobni are committed to getting this problem solved for our users.

Great news! I too am eagerly (to put it mildly) waiting for them to work together, since CC and Xobni are my top 2 add-ins for Outlook!

Just adding my two cents that this has been extremely frustrating and I am eagerly waiting but it seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time. I rely on both applications, I can't live without CC, Xobni enhances CC. If you all aren't already, you should be talking about an acquistion/merger - the products aren't competing, they are complimentary to each other.
