How to assign a category/project without it filing

Postby sm7220 » Fri Jul 16, 2010 2:30 pm

In the previous version I was able to assign a category/project without actually filing the message. How can I do this with version 5.1?

Use Assign Project on the ClearContext menu. If you use this often, add it to your toolbar via ClearContext > Options > UI/Toolbar.

Hi
I just upgraded from 4.x to 5.1 (vista + outlook 2007) and not beign able to assign a project/category without filing is highly annonying.
specially when reading an email. I used to assign a project but keep it in the inbox until I dealed with it.

much wanted improvement: to have the assign button available on the ribonn when reading an email, without having to open the more options menu.

suggestion: instead of a quick file button. show the preassigned/suggested project in a box and then have 2 small button: 1 for quick file an another for just assign without filling nor clossing window.

don't know how difficult is but: what about beeing able to personalize the items on the ribon???

thanks
regards

Miquel:

On an open message, use Assign Project under More Actions to accomplish what you want:

Add the Assign Project button to your Quick Access Toolbar in Outlook for more direct access.

just in case someone else wants to do it (outlook 2007):

click on down arrow next to quick access toolbar > more comands > show all commands > autoassign > add > ok

Hi again

I keep on hitting file when i just want to assign the project.
perhaps I'm too used to the old way.

However I think most users will benefit from having the assign button side by side to the file buton in the project assignement window. (see attached image)

desired buton location

please considerate adding this improvement in following versions
