Indication of Task / Follow Up

Postby PeterRHawkes » Fri Jan 06, 2012 10:58 am

When a Task is created from an email, or indeed a Follow-up, there is no indication when viewing the email that there is such a link. Is there a way to highlight that there is a link between the email and the Task / Follow-up as at present there is no such indication?

Those relationships are visible in the MessageContext. In Outlook 2007 and 2010(32 bit), there is an integrated MessageContext area available in the bottom of the window when you open the message in its own window. You can optionally enable this window in the main Outlook window via ClearContext Options.

In Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2010(64 bit), there is a separate MessageContext window that can be opened from the ClearContext menu.

Conversely, the MessageContext is also available from the created task/followup, and it will show the original email thread it was created from.

The Context does show the 'connected' email when opening the Task but the Task is not shown if you open the Email i.e. Open an email and it shows where it was filed but does not indicate it is linked to a Task?

On the bottom right of the integrated MessageContext, there is a link that indicates whether you have related tasks or appointments. You need to click on the link to switch to task display mode.

In the separate MessageContext window, there are 2 tabs, Conversation for messages, and Actions for tasks and appointments.
