Trying to Reset "Prioritized By Day" View

Postby dmrolfs » Wed May 17, 2006 10:28 am

I arranged by From and now cannot get the "Prioritized by Day" view to display like the preset view. I've hit the Reset Inbox button, however it doesn't seem to affect any change. The Arranged By: setting is still set "From". Switching to "Prioritized By Week" changes the view appropriately, however switching back to "Prioritized By Day" goes back to the wrong view, arranged by From.

Try resetting the original views via ClearContext > Options > Restore Original. Please note that this will overwrite any changes you have made to your views. If this fixes the problem, click ClearContext > Options > Save to commit these changes.

For more detail on view management, see our User Guide.

I have seen exactly the same problem. If you resort the inbox, then resetting prioritised by day doesn't work (the other views appear to reset OK).
I can get the view to appear correctly by using ClearContext > Options > Restore Original, but as soon as I re-sort the inbox then I have the same problem again (even if I have used ClearContext > Options > Save to commit the changes).

We store two copies of the views - the factory default and another set of views that you can edit. The behavior you describe indicates that you saved changes to your personal copy of the views that eliminated priority ordering.

Do this:

From ClearContext > Options:
1. Click Restore Original
2. Immediately after step 1 (before exiting options), click Save

Step 2 resets all of your personally editable views to the factory default. Now, when you restore your errant view it will reflect the factory default state.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Hi brad

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it doesn't work. When I click "restore original" I can see the view restored in the background. I click save and then close the options window, and everything looks great. Unfortunately if I then click, say, the received bar to sort by date, and then try to reset the view to Prioritised by Day, it doesn't work: the emails remain sorted by date.
I can still go into the options window and restore original, but it just doesn't seem to be able to save that as the default view.

Hmmm... exactly which view are you trying to use? Prioritized By Day or Prioritized by Day Grouped?

Try this and let me know if it works:

0. Switch to the view in question via ClearContext > Inbox Views > {View Name}
1. ClearContext > Options > Restore Original
2. Exit Options
3. ClearContext > Inbox Views > Save Current View

Now try your test - does this fix the problem?

Sorry for the trouble...

I have the same problem

This started with the latest upgrade / patch. Now the reset inbox button does not seem to work at all. However, I can go into CC / Options and Restore and that does work. That is a bit more cumbersome than just pressing the reset button.

I have tried all the things you recommended and I am still not having any luck. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the product.

I was trying to user prioritised by day, but the prioritised by day (grouped) doesn't work either.

All -

I apologize for the back and forth. You guys are all correct, Reset Inbox is broken in v2.0.4 for Outlook 2003. We will fix this in the next maintenance release. In the mean time, use Reset Current View from the ClearContext > Inbox Views menu. I will update this thread when we release the fix.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
