Cannot stop AutoFile from erroneously filing mail

Postby cwatson » Sat Jul 06, 2013 4:46 am

There is an address that is consistently picked up by AutoFile and filed in the "Social" folder, but it IS NOT social, it is a business related mail.

I have checked the AutoFile settings, specifically the "Social" rule and the address is not in the list of AutoFile addresses. Obviously CC must have this address stored somewhere, otherwise it would know to grab that message and put it in social.

Please advise where CC is storing the AutoFile information for the social folder. All the information is not displayed in the Options\AutoFile\AutoFile Folders\Social\Rules for AutoFile Group: Social.

Any rule ClearContext uses should be listed in the AutoFile Rules window. There are no hidden rules. Perhaps the message that are getting filed have a different "sent by" and "sent on behalf of", and one of the addresses there are triggering the rule. If you'd like to send us a sample of the message, we'd be happy to take a look at it. Please send it to support at and send the sample message as an attachment so that all the email fields are preserved.

Another possibility is that you accidentally created an Outlook rule to move certain messages there, and you may want to double check the Outlook rules to rule out that possibility.
