Installing Office365

Postby EileenJaneke » Mon Jan 20, 2014 6:43 am

Hello
Please assist. I use MS Office 2010 with Version 6.2.2 (MYN/TWC) version. If I download Office 365, can I expect any problems with the smooth running of the add-in? I am not sure what to expect.

Office 365 is fully supported with ClearContext and you shouldn't need to do anything special to have to work with ClearContext.

We would suggest getting Office365 installed and fully setup, then re-installing ClearContext if needed.

OK! I am going to do the deed this coming weekend.
Uninstalling Office 2010 & then downloading Office 365.
Should I also uninstall Clear Context MYN version as well? With the uninstall of 2010, it will be left with nothing to "add on" to?!
Sorry if I sound a bit dumb but am rather apprehensive about this messing up the present cosy integration between 2010 and CC MYN!

We would recommend proceeding in the following order:

1) Uninstall ClearContext
2) Uninstall Office 2010
3) Install Office 365
4) Get Office 365 up and running and let Outlook download all the mail from Exchange - the bottom status bar will state "All folders are up to date".
5) Reinstall ClearContext using the current version from the web site

None of your current settings should be lost in the process. If you want to be extra safe, you can use our backup script here to save the ClearContext settings before you switch over: how-do-i-backup-transfer-my-settings-to-a-new-pc-t3455.html

Hello
All seems to be going well with CC and Office365.
Just a query re projects when composing emails.
I allocate a project to the email and therefore expect the sent mail to reflect in the Processed folder? Is this incorrect? (Appearing in sent items)
Please enlighten me!
Thanks, Eileen

If you enable the option to file your sent mail to your Project folder, it should get filed. If you want this option enabled, be sure that the "File this email" button in the toolbar is pressed down while you are composing your message. This setting will be remembered for future messages.

Thank you for the prompt response.
Yes, if I remember to press button "file this email" button, the sent email goes to Processed mail folder.
If I do not remember to do this, the email lands in sent mail folder. Is this correct? (Not remembering the setting for future messages).
btw I am using the MYN version of CC.

The setting should be remembered for future messages. Another place to try setting it is in the ClearContext Options window. Under the Project Options tab, you can click the setting "Save messages to Project Folder".

I am having a lot of trouble getting ClearContext into Outlook 365.
Having now found this thread, I just finished taking out Outlook 2010 (I did not entirely remove Office.)
Uninstalled and reinstalled ClearContext
Ticked the ClearContext box in the add-ins menu in Outlook.
It is still not there.

Any thoughts?
Do I actually have to uninstall all Office 2010 to make this work?
Thank you.

Try checking the disabled add-ins section to see if ClearContext got disabled. We have instructions here: the-add-in-is-disabled-won-t-load-how-do-i-re-enable-t3419.html

Also, check if the 32/64 bitness of Outlook matches ClearContext. You can check by going to the About window in Outlook, and next to the full version number it will say whether it is the 32 or 64 bit version of Outlook. If it is 32 bit, then you would use the regular version of ClearContext. Otherwise, if it is 64 bit, click the link on our download page to get the 64 bit version. If you find you have to change from 32 to 64 or vice versa, be sure to shut down Outlook and uninstall ClearContext from the Windows Control Panel first.
