Sent items go into delete items folder

Don't know if this is something to do with my set-up or if its a bug, but for the life of me I can't neither fix it or find why its happening; but when I reply to an email which has a topic assigned - my reply ends up in the Deleted Items folder rather than in the topic itself.

Anyone seeing this - know why it may be happening?

On Exchange, when your project folders reside in an offline PST file and File Sent to Project folders is enabled, ClearContext copies sent messages to BOTH the project folder and the Deleted Items folder. This is to work around an Exchange bug that causes messages to be left in the Outbox on the server.

Assuming this is your setup, you should be seeing your sent messages in both places. If that's not the case, check your Local Failures folder under Sync Issues and/or repair corruption in your mail files using SCANPST.

This is indeed my setup and yes I am seeing the emails in both places. Many thanks for the quick response and sorting me out.


Unless you think you will fix this - perhaps updating the Delete Items copy to be "CC DELETED: " and then the subject may be worthwhile - if this is technically possible. Will stop a lot of support requests I would guess.
